Shoot 1 Tranquility Work Record

Plans

For this shoot I would like to capture images that represent tranquility. TO be able to see the peacefulness within the model. Let her be as she is. I want to capture laughing, staring, daydreaming, sleeping, everything you do on a completely peaceful day.

What I hope to achieve:

I hope to achieve varied photographs with different sentiments but the same message. The message I would like to get across is the tranquility of a person. The different ways in which the human mind can feel and look at peace. The day in which I want to do this is to have a main focus which backgrounds mostly blurred. I quite like the idea of having a messy background in some to represent that one can still feel at peace even if life around thin is messy.

What I actually achieved:

During the Holidays we were given the task to take a practise shoot for our exam. Following my notes for ideas of my first shoot, I decided on doing a shoot under the name on 'Tranquility'.
I used a friend of mine as a model. During the shoot, I decided to position her in various ways. I found that I was successful in having a messy background for one or two photographs. I did also end up haven a lot of the model in a bed. It seemed to be a good place as that is where most people will procrastinate/ reminisce and where people fall asleep. Falling asleep, is most commonly, a place of peace.

Here are a few of my final photos:

This photo, to me, represents tranquility because of the way she looks into the camera. There is a disheveled facial expression mixed with a dreamy doe eye look. The eyes are very captivating and stand out well against her complexion. Furthermore, the toys and mess in the background show a sense of innocence and chaos, yet she is turned away form it all.  She is looking up rather than down.

I also really like this photo because of obvious reasons. You can see a love bite  quite prominent on the girls neck. Its a sign of pleasure, mixed with tranquility. To be tranquil, you have to be at peace, to like where you are. I love the way her collar bones are protruding and easily defined. I think that the dark lighting creates a lust filled atmosphere, along with the messy strewn hair.
What I am going to do next/progression

Unfortunately, I did not like this photo:

The reason being for my dislike of this photo is more about the angle than the quality. I felt like the angle was slightly unflattering. I also didn't like the way her nose ring has a bobble on the inside creating an unattractive look. I think if the photo was from up above it would have worked out in my favour.
Next time, for my next shoot, I think that I would like to explore taking photos outside and in different environments rather than sticking to just one. I would like to use different lighting and possibly experiment with a different model.
