Nicolas Bruno

I began to analyze my dream journal and experiences and brought them into consideration when I attended my photography classes in high school, often creating cinematic interpretations within my head of what the dreams contained. I started to experiment with my dream recollections and created a concentration of work in which I was able to finally warp my anxiety into a positive product and express my vision to the world. Photography has taken the role of my full time therapist ever since then.
My creative process generally begins with in depth planning, but the shoot often begins to dovetail with a bit of sporadic experimentation. The setting for my photograph is often the catalyst for change in my original ideas and aspirations for the final photo. A location may change due to weather patterns and unexpected alteration by nature or humans (abandoned buildings in particular) so I always give myself a generalized plan for the image I will attempt to execute without depending on too many specific details of the location itself.

The Denotations of this photograph is two girls head to head with there backs facing a lake. I like the way this photo completely screams being morbid. Its very dark, dull and contrasted. The girls have their eyes closed which could represent trying to escape from their reality. However, because they are at a lake, it's almost as if their reality is them losing their insanity.

The denotations of this photograph is a lone corridor with a single chair and a woman sitting there reading a boo. This photo is very creepy and gives of a dangerously sad atmosphere. I like the way the surroundings are very old, fitting in with the green colourisation.

The denotations of this photograph i a man standing half naked in a black room with a box over is head. I like the message of this, I like the was it shuts him out, almost like the man is losing his identity and could represent sexualisation. Men are often admired for the chests, the fact that he is very muscular and has his chest out, but no attention is on his face, it shows what people really look at. The fact that is it in black and white emphasises the dismal atmosphere.

The denotations of this photograph is a man sitting on table, in a rundown room. There is paint feeling off of the walls  with a message written across 'you are here because the outside world rejects you'. The connotations of this photograph are very morbid. The message is very plain and clear. It shows that equality isn't a thing. That people suffer in silence, that words can mean a thousand actions. The fact that the place is run down ells emphasises the atmosphere of pity and making you think, along with the black and white effect.
